Yellowstone NP is part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, considered the largest remaining, nearly intact northern temperate zone ecosystem on Earth and one of the world's foremost natural laboratories for geology and landscape ecology.

It is also home a large variety of wildlife including bison, grizzly bears, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mountain lions, wolves, bobcats, coyotes, moose, and elk.

This is one of the must see places in North America and a place I enjoy seeing over and over again throughout the year..

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is America's first national park, created in 1872 and one of those magical places where you see things that you don’t see almost anywhere else.

Located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, covering an area of 3,468 square miles, Yellowstone contains an amazing collection of hot springs, mudpots, and fumaroles and the world's most extraordinary geysers, the most well-known being Old Faithful. The vivid colors and constantly evolving textures present within and alongside of the searing waters makes this place a fairyland of visual delights.

Two other prominent geologic features are the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone Lake, which is one of the largest high-altitude lakes in North America. It sits over the Yellowstone Caldera, the largest super-volcano on the continent and still an active volcano. Half of the world's geothermal features are located within Yellowstone.
